UNTIL Tuesday 31st August

The Roman Baths will stay open until 10pm every evening this summer, offering visitors a chance to enjoy the special atmosphere around the torchlit Great Bath. Torchlit Summer Evenings will run from 23 July to 31 August, with last admission at 9pm.

There will be a pop-up bar beside the Great Bath selling champagne, prosecco, soft drinks and ice cream. The Roman Baths museum will stay open late so that visitors can look around the fascinating displays about life in Roman Bath, long after the usual closing time.

Councillor Dine Romero, Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, Communities and Culture, said: "There is a magical atmosphere around the Great Bath as the sun begins to set and the torches are lit. We're delighted to be able to open late and invite visitors to enjoy this special experience. Admission is free for local residents, and I hope that many local people will come along and soak up the fantastic atmosphere."

The Roman Baths Shop will stay open late for visitors to browse the range of quality gifts – many with a Roman and Georgian flavour – including souvenirs, toiletries, jewellery, biscuits, chocolate, locally made crafts, prints and much more.

In order to protect visitors and staff, well-practised Covid-19 safety measures are in place at the Roman Baths, and only 20 percent of the usual number of visitors will be admitted throughout the summer months.

Why not combine a visit to the Roman Baths with dinner in the magnificent Pump Room? The Pump Room Restaurant will be open for summer evening dining from 17 July to 30 August. Diners can enjoy a chilled glass of Searcys Champagne upon arrival, followed by their choice of a two or three-course seasonal menu, accompanied by live music from the resident pianist. Book in advance at www.thepumproombath.co.uk.

Roman Baths tickets are now on sale and all visitors must book online in advance at www.romanbaths.co.uk/torchlit.

Admission to the Roman Baths is free for residents of Bath & North East Somerset, with a Discovery Card or other proof of residence. Free tickets must also be booked online in advance. For more details visit www.romanbaths.co.uk/residents.
