After what the staff believe may be 40 years on the High Street in Midsomer Norton the McColl's will be shutting up in November.

The team has confirmed that their last day open will be November 17, although they are not sure of the actual closing time.

Midsomer Norton Nub News has known that the store was closing for some time, but in spite of repeated requests to the head office of the company did not reply, and the staff were not free to confirm the rumours.

The shop lease has been up for some time, but although it is still on the market, we understand that there has not been any interest in taking on the store as a going concern. Nub News has also approached the company offering the lease on the premises at 105 Midsomer Norton High Street.

The shop will be the latest High Street location that is empty. Nearby the pharmacy previously Lloyds closed up in October 2020 and the former Argos site further along the road remains empty.

The owners of McColl's in the High Street confirmed back in August 2020 that the shop was up for sale.

In a statement at the time to Nub News they said: " We can confirm that the store is currently being advertised for sale, but we don't have any further details to add at this moment."
