A Class 26 diesel locomotive will run on the Somerset and Dorset Railway at Midsomer Norton for the first time next year.

The Somerset and Dorset Railway has arranged the hire of Class 26 diesel locomotive D5343 from the Gloucester Warwickshire Railway.

The locomotive will be arriving at Midsomer Norton in March in readiness for the railway's diesel gala, which will be taking place over the weekend of March 7 and 8. The locomotive will be on a two-month hire to the railway.

The railway will be offering a number of driver experience days with the Class 26 locomotive, the cost of these will be approximately £295 for the day.

If you are interested in booking a driver experience on this locomotive then you can email [email protected] for further information. Details are still being finalised at this time.
