A new community pantry has opened in Midsomer Norton.

Situated next to the Methodist Church on the High Street it is the initiative of resident Kate Turner, supported by the Reverend Stephen Robinson.

It is open to all, 24/7 and can be used by anyone locally who needs support for food or toiletries.

Kate Turner told Nub News : " We would love people to help bring in donations and make awareness to those in need.

" Also a big thank you to Wickes in Midsomer Norton for providing all the resources to make the pantry itself."

Kate also runs the Free and Eco community group on Facebook, with an aim of stopping items going into landfill and helping those in the community who are living with varying levels of poverty and hardship.

Last year Nub News covered an event which Kate helped organise, the town's first ever jumble trail .
