Unexpected venture - but all smiles from the new owners

They didn't expect to be in charge, but a chance conversation and a willingness to invest in the high street and keep the doors open, has meant new faces at the Midsomer Norton hardware shop.

Chris and Wendy Day, along with their son Chance, are now running the local hardware shop after the previous owner was forced to step down.

He happened to mention to them that he was looking for buyers and that is when Chris had his light bulb moment.

A Midsomer stalwart Chris, who has worked for decades with his hands, and his wife, who works at the local pre-school, knew that it was a chance that they couldn't miss. So now the family is, literally, hands on.

Chris said: " We just knew it great for us. And we can keep this important shop open. "

The trio have already re-introduced free thrice weekly local deliveries for heavy items and they are providing a bespoke service.

Chris explained: " Nothing too small and if someone comes in and we don't have it we make a note and we can get it for them. That's what we are aiming for a proper personal service."

The family are not only friendly and welcoming but they know their stuff. Chris has years of experience in the building area, (although in his spare time he is also a DJ) , his wife can be relied on for craft advice and son Chance is a qualified carpenter.

Chris said: " We are bringing back service, that's what we are doing, we really care about our customers."

Pop along to 15 The High Street
