At least £50,000 is urgently needed to resurface a well-used and busy road in Peasedown St John.

Braysdown Lane, which joins together some of Peasedown St John's major housing estates and residential areas, is thought to see up to 1,000 vehicle movements a day.

Years of wear and tear are starting to show, for which a complete resurfacing is needed.

Bath & North East Somerset Councillors for Peasedown St John, Karen Walker and Sarah Bevan (Independents) have written to the Highways Department requesting for action to be taken.

Cllr Karen Walker said:

"One of the regular issues that residents often email us about is the poor condition of the road in Braysdown Lane.

Various pieces of patch work have been carried out to fill in pot-holes over the past five years, but a larger strategic view now needs to be taken about the long-term future of this road."

Karen and Sarah have appealed to the council to make funds available as part of next year's financial budget, where millions of pounds are distributed across the Local Authority for road repairs and changes to highway infrastructure.

Cllr Sarah Bevan added:

"We're grateful to all the residents who have contacted us about this issue over the years, whether you live on Braysdown Lane or not!

It's a well-used thoroughfare that allows easy access to the local shops, GP surgery, school, churches and dentist.

It should unquestionably be a council highways resurfacing priority!"

The councillors have written to the Cabinet asking for the funding to be allocated to re-surface this road in the 2022/23 Budget.
