Jacob Rees Mogg MP writes:

This week, the newly elected Leader of the Conservative and Unionist Party, Liz Truss, accepted Her Majesty The Queen's invitation to form a new government.

In her first address outside 10 Downing Street, the Prime Minister paid tribute to Boris Johnson praising him for delivering Brexit, the Covid vaccine and standing up to Vladimir Putin, who continues to wage war on Ukraine. She was correct to say that: 'History will see him as a hugely consequential Prime Minister' and he leaves a lasting legacy that will be continued under the new leadership.

As the new Prime Minister said during her speech, what makes Britain great is our fundamental belief in freedom, in enterprise, and in fair play. She understands the heavy burdens that are being placed upon families, largely owing to Putin and the need for improvement in our infrastructure to allow for maximum prosperity.

As Premier, Liz Truss has assured the country that she will pursue three early priorities. First is a bold plan to grow the economy through tax cuts and reform. Second, she has promised to address the energy crisis with immediate effect. Third, she will do all she can to ensure that people can get the doctors' appointments and NHS services that they need.

Now is the time to move forward and as Boris said, it requires the Parliamentary Party to unify and give its full support to Liz Truss' programme, which will give everything to stabilising and augmenting our great country.
