The rule that if you get coronavirus you will have to isolate is coming to an end.

The government has announced that free tests for all are being phased out and from Thursday anyone who tests positive for coronavirus will not have to isolate.

They posted : " Covid-19 has not gone away, but because of the efforts we have made as a country over the past two years we can now move from government regulations to personal responsibility."

Key points :

From February 24 people with a positive test will no longer need to self-isolate and routine contact tracing will end

Free testing will end from 1 April for the general public, including those with symptoms, although the very vulnerable will get tests if they are symptomatic

Payments available to those forced to self-isolate will also come to an end

The government is calling the new strategy Living With Covid.
