Driving Safely And With Confidence – Village Agents Host Route 60+ Events

By Guest 16th Jul 2021

Driving is an activity that provides independence and a greater quality of life for many people, especially those living in rural areas. But for some people getting older can mean a loss of confidence on the roads. The recent series of lockdowns has exacerbated this for some of our local community.

The Village Agents in B&NES are hosting two 'Route 60+' events in the next few months, which aim to help senior drivers drive safely for longer and with confidence. The events, which are delivered by Somerset Council's Road Safety Team, take place on Tuesday 20th July at the Somer Centre in Midsomer Norton and on Monday 20th September at Conygre Hall, Timsbury.

Thatcher + Hallam will be attending each of the sessions and will be on hand to answer any legal advice questions, for example relating to Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney and Probate matters. Other local organisations will also be available to chat to at the events.

The Route 60+ sessions address key issues including how vehicles have changed in recent years and how we can update our driving skills, as well as providing an opportunity to chat to the road safety team about any driving or road safety concerns you may have. Those attending will learn tips for building your confidence and gain reassurance by refreshing your road sense and knowledge.

The Somerset Council Road Safety Team said, "There is no set age to stop driving. Our Route 60+ programme is designed to help drivers continue their driving career for as long as possible."

The events are free to attend and open to all. Click here to see the flyer all about the events - HERE : the Thatcher and Hallam site

Doors to the events open at 10am, when there will be chance to chat with other organisations who will be attending (including ourselves), as well as to enjoy free refreshments.
