Radstock Museum is looking forward to this year's Miners' Reunion which will take place on Monday 6th September from 2pm-4pm at the museum.

Former Somerset colliery employees are all welcome to attend an open afternoon at the museum for a 'catch-up' with former colleagues over a beer or hot and cold soft drinks and cake. There will also be an opportunity to have a look around the museum during the event

which is sponsored by the Somerset & District Miners Welfare Trust.

Organiser of the annual reunion Julie Dexter, Museum Chairman Simon Carter, and the Museum Trustees have announced that during the afternoon, all former Somerset mine employees will be presented with a

'ticket-for-life' for Radstock Museum; the ticket will entitle any former colliery worker, plus one guest to visit the museum free of charge for the life of the miner.

Julie said: "Radstock Museum wishes to recognise the contribution made by local colliery employees to our region's past economy and industrial heritage. Also, since the pit closures, these former miners have donated many mining artefacts, stories of their experiences working in the mines and a good deal of practical help in setting up and supporting the museum for which we want to show our appreciation. A ticket-for-life will be presented to miners who attend the reunion this year."

The Museum asks that miners gather under the mine wheel in Radstock just before 2pm for the annual group photo.
