Frome's Halifax is to close in July, following news that the branch over in Midsomer Norton is closing in August.

This will be another blow to the town, which has seen all three major banks pull out.

The former Barclays has now been rented out, but NatWest and HSBC remain empty.

It is also bad news for one of the customers in Midsomer Norton who had posted : " That's awful news that Halifax in Norton is closing, will have to travel to the Frome or Bath branches then." But sadly the former is closing even sooner.

Another branch which is closing is Keynsham but not until January next year.

The Midsomer Norton branch is set to close August 21, while Frome is believed to be shutting on July 2.

One customer has not had any luck in moving their bank accounts. They first banked with Midland, that went, then Barclays that went (it closed up in Friday 25 January 2019) and then moved their money to the Halifax only to see that too closing up.

Summing up their frustration the account holder said " It is a right bloody sham."
