Raising Money for Macmillan Cancer Support, Darron Hebberd was at the Somerset Farmer's Market in Midsomer Norton on Saturday with his training equipment. Over the course of 2023 Darron will be undertaking various Triathlon challenges and hosting various events to hopefully raise £2023 for Macmillan.

In addition to the Oldbury Sprint, Royal Windsor Olympic, and Minehead Sprint triathlons, Darron is also taking part in the Ironman at Weymouth which consists of a 1900m swim, a 56-mile cycle and a 13.1 mile run!

Writing on his just giving page, Darron explains why he's doing it, "Everyone knows someone who has been affected by Cancer and everyone knows the great support and work Macmillan do so I just wanted to do something that not only challenges me but will give something to Macmillan."

The Farmers' Market was well attended with Midsomer Norton Town Council and Somer Valley FM running the community stall. Darron picked up several cash donations and encourages more people to donate via his Just Giving page https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/18st2iron

The Mayor of Misomer Norton, Cllr Gordon Mackay met up with Darron at the market. "I know Darron well though all his work with the local Rugby Club and this is an amazing effort he's putting in for a really worthy cause that benefits so many people. I hope people will take the time to donate a little and help Darron reach his goal."

The Town Council have been supporting the Farmers' Market for many years and resolved last year to start attending in an official capacity to provide a visible presence where Councillors can chat with shoppers and traders while also doing a little shopping.

"It's more than just a market," continued Cllr Mackay, "you can buy a coffee, listen to some live music and meet inspirational people like Darron. I'm already looking forward to the next one on the first Saturday in August."
