The local gritting teams will be out tonight (January 5).

B&NES Highways and transport has just announced a full gritting schedule which will prioritise A and B roads in the Somer Valley.

According to the Met Office, the temperatures tonight are due to fall to minus 4 in and around Midsomer. The forecast is for it to remain dry with prolonged clear spells developing. Towards dawn, patchy cloud may begin to develop from the west, but it will remain dry. A cold night. Meantime they have also issued three yellow warnings for dangerous weather conditions, including lightning strikes from isolated thunderstorms and as much as 10cm of snow falling on the highest ground, from 10am on Thursday until 11am on Friday across Scotland, Wales and northern England.
