Give up your knives : Police renew appeal for amnesty and ask people to drop weapons in the box

By Susie Watkins 10th Nov 2020

Just lift the lid, put the knife in and walk away - it is as simple as that.

That's the message from the local police who have a knife amnesty box outside the station.

They have already had a lot of knives and other weapons handed in, but would like to have even more taken out of circulation.

It is part of a new police operation, Operation Sceptre which runs all week in connection with national knife crime week.

Officers will be educating shops that sell knives and offering information to schools and youth groups.

The knife amnesty box outside Westfield police station which is completely anonymous so if you need to dispose of any knives or similar articles feel free to dispose of them.
