The Somerset and Dorset Railway Museum in Midsomer Norton will be flinging open its doors as part of this year's Heritage Open Days event.

Heritage Open Days run from Friday 13 to Sunday 22 September and give people the chance to see hidden places and try new experiences – all for free.

The museum in Midsomer Norton will be open on Sundays 15 and 22 September from 10am to 4pm and Monday 16 September 1pm to 4pm.

It will be the chance to visit the museum which features a Somerset and Dorset stable block, Anderson shelter and pill box. The buffet car (café) and shop will be open.

Councillor Paul Crossley, cabinet member for community services at Bath and North East Somerset Council, said: "Heritage Open Days are a great opportunity for our community to see inside some fascinating places – many of which aren't normally open to the public.

"I hope residents of all ages will enjoy exploring the amazing heritage on our doorstep."
