The Clean and Green team from B&NES have been working in and around Westfield and Radstock this week.

Yesterday the team cleared weeds along Fosseway Gardens and Wesley Avenue in Westfield.

They posted this before and after photo on their social media feed to show the transformation. If you do spot any work going on please do let us know.

Meantime enjoy the weed-free pavements.

IN 2021 the B&NES Lib Dems approved a permanent ban on the use of glyphosate weed killer to control street weeds across the area.

The controversial chemical is now only being used for dangerous, invasive weeds including Giant Hogweed and Japanese Knotweed. The council said that alternatives to weedkiller would then be prioritised for street weeds, including additional funding for mechanical and manual weed removal from the next financial year.

The Council is also looking into viable alternative methods of weed control and will look to work with communities to manage street weeds in some locations.
