It's the busiest time of the year for hardworking posties as they deliver cards and presents to hundreds of thousands of West of England residents.

There are around double the number of parcels and letters are sent over the festive period compared to usual.

To say thank you, Mr Norris handed over a Christmas card designed by the winner of the Mayor's Christmas card competition to the staff. He has also urged locals to do their bit to help by posting early, using a postcode and wrapping parcels well.

West of England Mayor Dan Norris said: "There is a huge amount of effort and dedication that goes into delivering a first class Christmas at the busiest time of year.

"Come rain or shine, posties are out there delivering for our communities - including cards and presents. The team definitely get my stamp of approval. Thank you!"

The last posting dates for Christmas delivery this year are:

Monday 18 December - 2nd class

Wednesday 20 December - 1st class

Thursday 21 December - Special Delivery
