Midsomer Norton resident overwhelmed as she wins top award for her tireless work in the community
A Midsomer Norton local has been officially recognised for her community work, being awarded a special community plaque for her hard work.
Kate Turner, who was most recently featured on Nub News for her working in starting a new community pantry in Midsomer, has won a Census 2021 purple plaque.
The list of work she undertakes for the community is extensive :
Kate runs the Free and Eco community MSN group, which has over 5400 local members and helps save items from landfill, which they then recycle and repurpose on.
Within that and other environmental and community sites she also offers up tips on budgeting and how to stay out of debt. She has run 25 days of Christmas giveaways and started the first ever Midsomer Norton jumble trail.
Kate told Nub News that her work includes being a campaigner and an advocate for those residents who do not have a voice.
She told Nub News : " I feel completely shocked and humbled by it all."
