Thanks to NFU Mutual Bath employees voting Great Western Air Ambulance Charity (GWAAC) as beneficiary of their annual charity fund for the second year in the row, newest PHEM (pre-hospital emergency medicine) Trainee Dr Mark Winstanley has the right uniform for the job. Heather Wareham, Agent NFU Mutual Bath said: 'This is the second year we have nominated this charity to thank them for the outstanding work they do. We were lucky enough to be invited to the base for a tour last year and to meet the team and see what fantastic work they do. This left such an impact on our office team that we wanted to continue to support this charity again in 2023.'

NFU Mutual's £3,221.50 donation, will fund three complete sets of uniform, for three members of GWAAC's Critical Care Team – including Dr Mark Winstanley. Dr Winstanley said, "I'd like to use this opportunity to say a huge thank you to NFU Mutual (Bath) for donating £3,221.50 towards my GWAAC uniform costs. Having the right uniform for the job such as my flight suit, waterproof jacket, and sturdy boots means I can focus on treating patients whatever the weather and location".

GWAAC is Bath and North East Somerset's air ambulance charity and in 2022 their Critical Care Team called to 94 call-outs in BANES. GWAAC receive no day-to-day funding from the Government and rely on the support of the local community to keep them flying.

Philippa Walker, Supporter Engagement Coordinator at GWAAC said, "Our Doctors and Specialist Paramedics use their advanced medical skills in a different environment on every call, often out in the elements whether rain or shine. They need to be properly equipped with the right protective uniform to help them give the best possible care to those who need us in Bath and beyond. That's why we are so grateful to NFU Mutual for their continued support and for funding these essential pieces of kit."
