People living in Peasedown St John are being given the opportunity to share their views on the environment, thanks to a new village-wide survey.

Organised by the Peasedown Community Trust, every home will receive a hand delivered survey over the next few weeks – asking for residents to voice any concerns they may have about climate change, green energy, recycling, local transport and health & wellbeing.

Community Trust Chairman, Gavin Heathcote, said: "The environment affects us all. All of us, irrespective of who we are or where we live, will have views about environmental issues.

Transport, recycling, climate change, access to local services and amenities – all of these shape our day-to-day lives.

It is because of this that we are asking every household in Peasedown St John to complete this short survey and return to us."

The data gathering exercise is costing over £250, and will help the Trust to create policies and prioritise how funding should be spent, in terms of environmental schemes and initiatives.

Questions include:

What would make you use public transport, cycle or walk more?

Would you like to see more areas of Peasedown pedestrianised? Eg, roads closed to cars and priority given to pedestrian use. If so, which streets?

Do you support the government's policy of banning all sales of new petrol and diesel vehicles by 2030?

Would you like to see the installation of electric car charging points in Peasedown? If so, where should they be installed?

How do you rate B&NES Council's refuse collection services? What could be different?

Residents have until Monday 3rd May to respond, and those that do will be in with a chance of winning a Luxury Hamper, worth £50.

Fellow Trustee and long-serving Peasedown Councillor, Karen Walker, added: "This is the biggest survey of residents' views in Peasedown St John in over a decade.

" We are keen to hear from as many people as possible. The results and feedback will help us to know what people think and what the Trust should be campaigning for over the next 5-10 years."

Once residents have received and completed their survey it can be returned to:

  • Peasedown Community Trust, 33a St Johns Close, Peasedown St John, BA2 8JG
  • Peasedown Community Library, The Hive, Bath Road, Peasedown St John, BA2 8DH (next to the Primary School)
