Planning news in and around Midsomer Norton this week:
The Heritage Station in Midsomer Norton will be able to run more train days with the team on on Silver Street, successfully applying to vary condition 2 of application 16/00143/VAR (Variation of condition 6 (opening times) to application 07/02516/FUL. (Extension of operational heritage railway and engineering works, including track-laying and associated infrastructure).
In addition to its weekend opening days from April to October the Trust have run a number of 'Wickham Wednesdays' as additional days which have proven to be extremely popular.
In the planning decision it was decided to allow more potential events and the station can open for a further 25 days. Planners noted : " Each season all 35 days may not actually be used. This would be 35 additional days over a period of 5 months, so on average 7 days a month. "
Work at The Shambles above the old Radco building, has, as locals have seen, continued apace and now the company has applied for some of the conditions on the successful planning application to be discharged. Under 22/00952/COND an application is in to discharge of conditions 7 (Joinery details (Bespoke) and 8 (Door colour (Bepoke) of application 17/04186/FUL (Demolition of existing buildings with retention of existing east and south facades).
If agreed the colour for all external doors will be Dulux Heritage Slate, which is a dark grey.
The site is being turned into ten new residential units and one commercial unit with all the building work by local firm, Dave Fishlock Properties Ltd.
An application is in for a rear conservatory at 66 Waterford Park, Westfield. Details under 22/00890/FUL
The homeowners of Meadow Bank, 1A Hayes Park Road, in Midsomer (Under reference 22/00940/FUL) have applied to build a garage attached to the side of the house.
Meantime an application to Mendip planners for internal refurbishments to existing farm buildings, extension to a swimming pool building, the installation of four new pods, and bigger car parking at Everards Farmhouse on Nedge Lane in Chewton Mendip, has been withdrawn.

No issue with an application to fell a Cheery Tree on the former Railway Track, along Somervale Road, in Radstock.
No objection to an application to pollard a Willow at 23 West Road, in Welton.
An application to turn the empty shop at 50 High Street, in Midsomer Norton, into two one-bed flats has been permitted.
Also in Midsomer an application by homeowners of 10 Paulton Road, to build a timber single storey granny annexe for ancillary use to the main dwelling has been agreed. While an application for the same address to site a mobile home on the land there, has been withdrawn.
