Planning news in and around Radstock this week includes:
Permitted, an application to build a single storey side and rear extension, following demolition of existing conservatory at 36 Bryant Avenue, in Westfield BA3 3SR.
Also permitted an application made by the former restaurant at 55 High Street, in Midsomer Norton. We understood that the site was to be turned into a Chinese takeaway, but now an application is in for signs for the pizza chain Papa Johns, which recently announced it was expanding to Glastonbury.

The application is for one externally illuminated fascia sign, one externally illuminated projecting sign and one internally illuminated A1 poster unit. The site has been empty and was up for auction.
An application is in to discharge five planning conditions concerning the application by Valley View, at 16 Linden Close, in Westfield (under reference 21/04664/COND). The homeowner has applied to discharge conditions 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 of application 21/00564/FUL, which is to build a two storey detached dwelling on land adjacent to that house.
In Paulton, a planning application for empty premises, at 7 High Street, in Paulton (under reference 21/04686/COND) wants condition 5 of application 20/04894/FUL discharged. Plans are in to convert the site into a three storey residential dwelling.
In Wellow, an application is in to cut back the crown of a Beech tree by two metres at Milford Head, Mill Hill, in Wellow. Details under 21/04691/TCA.
Over in Hinton Charterhouse, a revised application is in at Crewcroft Barn, on Hinton Hill, (post code BA2 7PZ and under reference
21/04569/FU) for a barn conversion and alterations to the original building using a traditional construction method. The owners want to to form straw bale Passivhaus structure. The building is non-designated heritage asset and is sited within the Green Belt and Cotswold Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The application states : " This current proposal is very simple in nature, merely seeking to amend the method of constructing the external walls yet retaining the approved design styles, amending the floor levels and the introduction of living in the loft. The design remain very much the same as already approved (as seen on the submission drawings), the materials of the walls and roof also remain the same, to maintain the contemporary and traditional design, indicating the past / remaining historical fabric and the new elements, telling the story of time through design. "
