Somer Valley Farm's "Porktoberfest" was held on Saturday 21st at Knoll Farm in Peasedown St John.

With hot dogs, pulled pork wraps, salad and pork scratchings to eat, Chester Ellis, head brewer of Somer Valley Brewing, was on hand selling their locally produced beers from a custom mobile beer-truck.

The specially adapted van offers fresh beer on tap with a 900 pint capacity. Somer Valley Brewing offer a variety of beers including Brook, a 4.7% Helles Lager and a 4.2% session pale ale called Rolling Hills. The shop also sells an XPA called Locally Sauced from Electric Bear Brewing featuring Somer Valley's very own home-grown barley.

While visitors enjoyed the food and beer on offer outside, the Butchers shop was open selling a variety of freshly prepared meat including incredible sausage rolls, pies, steak and mince.

Somer Valley Farms was founded by the Watt family in 2019, as part of a mission to return to the family roots of farming. The family had been successfully farming the land around Wiltshire and Somerset for generations, Arthur Court - the grandfather of Chris, Somer Valley Farms founder - being a particularly notable figure in their history.

The shop also offers a click and collect facility from their online store where customers can choose a convenient time to visit with their order prepared and ready for them to pick up.

Regulars of Midsomer Norton's Farmers' Market, held on the first Saturday of the month at the Hollies Garden, will recognise Somer Valley Farms who have a stall there selling top quality local produce.

The mobile beer van, available to book for events and festivals, is already proving very successful. Mayor of Midsomer Norton, Cllr Gordon Mackay, a keen fan of meat, beer and Somer Valley Farms, attended Porktoberfest with his son.

"Somer Valley Farms are providing some amazing quality, local produce and wonderful beers too. The mobile bar is just brilliant. I'd love to see the truck attending some of Midsomer Norton's big events next year. Combined with the great food the farm is offering, it's a winning combination."

Somer Valley Farms will be at the next Midsomer Norton Farmers' Market on November 4th. The market, recently praised for its friendly atmosphere and ideal location, features around twenty stalls, all from local producers. Several Town and Ward Councillors run the community stall, shared with local radio station Somer Valley FM, where residents can chat with them about local issues.

More information about Somer Valley Farms, and their online store, can be found on their website
