Radstock Town Football Club kicked off the Toolstation Western League's mental health partnership with Bath Mind at Southfields Recreation Ground on Wednesday February 9th. Before the Miners First Division clash with Bishops Lydeard, posters designed by Bath Mind were hung in the home and away changing rooms, promoting mental health support services for young people.

Miners manager, Ryan Child was joined by Western League Chairman, John Pool, for a photo with the poster in the home dressing room, before Radstock's three two win.

Ryan said: "Mental health is as important as physical health and should be treated just the same. And Football is just as much as social event as it is anything else with physical and mental health benefits. This project with Mind hopefully reinforces the idea that there's someone there to talk to if they need it, and that the stigma behind mental health doesn't exist at our club."

As well as changing room posters, Bath Mind have provided leaflets for fans, as well as programme adverts, highlighting the variety of support services they provide. If successful, this initial pilot will be extended by the Western League to cover all 40 Clubs across the South West of England, from Cornwall to Wiltshire.

Former Somer Valley Sports presenter, Ian Nockolds, is leading the campaign for the Western League and said: "I am very grateful for the wonderful reception we got from everyone at Radstock Town and for their incredible generosity. I'm finding at every Club I visit that there are stories of how mental health issues have touched so many lives. Many people go to football for a release from our day to day responsibilities and I'm hoping that through football we can help people who are struggling to come to terms with the challenges they face in their everyday lives."

Ian also attended Hengrove Athletics game against Radstock Town on Saturday February 12th and Welton Rovers match with Bath City on February 15th, as the Toolstation Western League continue to promote this important partnership.
