Radstock fire service crews have expressed frustration at locals who continue to light bonfires under the current lockdown.

Watch Manager Rich Bull at Radstock Fire station revealed that the fire crews have been out on a total of five separate calls since the lock down began - solely for unnecessary bonfires.

He told Nub News: " People are having fires because they can't get to the tip. Its unfortunate the tip is closed, but people need to be aware that when we are at the incident of the bonfire, if an emergency fire comes in or a road traffic collision where we ARE needed we can't go unless we are released from the bonfire.

" People need to think of the repercussions of what they are doing.

" Don't burn it. Simply don't burn it. "

As the weather improves Radstock residents will be tempted to get into their gardens for a barbecue - what does the officer think of that?

" Well they are fine - just make sure they are under control."
