A Radstock police officer could lose his job after allegedly sending a photo of a partially clothed dead body on WhatsApp.
PC Daniel Wallwork was sent to an address in North East Somerset following a sudden death in April 2020.
The Avon and Somerset Police officer is accused of using his personal phone to take a photo of the deceased person lying face down and sending it to a colleague before carrying on with his work.
If proven, the allegations would amount to gross misconduct.
The case comes after two Met Police officers were each jailed for 33 months after taking photos of murdered sisters Nicole Smallman and Bibaa Henry and sharing the images on WhatsApp groups in June 2020.
The judge said Deniz Jaffer and Jamie Lewis disregarded the victims' privacy for "a cheap thrill" or "some form of bragging rights", and they had undermined trust and faith in the police.
PC Wallwork will face a virtual misconduct hearing on January 12 that chief constable Sarah Crew has directed should be held in public.
