Radstock twinning - a message from the Mayor

About two years ago Radstock was invited to twin with a charming mediaeval fortress town in the south of France. Lançon-Provence is similar in size to Radstock but covers a much larger area and includes vineyards and olive groves in what is a mixed agricultural economy.

Last year we entertained a delegation from the town and the mayor switched on our Christmas lights. They loved Radstock and were eager to progress the twinning to the next stage: a formal relationship with us, based on holidays, sport fixtures and cultural exchanges.

Many personal friendships arise from twinning programmes and I should like to invite residents of the area to consider joining in. They are planning an extravagant celebration in our honour, 21-24 May of this year and it would be a wonderful opportunity to spend time with them in their idyllic location.

They have offered to show us around the locality, Marseille is not far off and the two beautiful towns of Aix and Salon de Provence are a bus ride away. In that sense, there is a similarity between Radstock and Lançon. Apart from their intrinsic interest they are close to some of the finest places in Europe.

There will be places available to 18 persons and we would fly from Bristol to Marseille. Once there, our accommodation, breakfast and most meals are found.
