Residents encouraged to get walking for Julian House
18th Mar 2022 By Guest
This year, charity Julian House is challenging residents to get outside, get walking and raise vital funds and awareness to support people experiencing homelessness and escaping domestic abuse.
The charity has partnered with walk providers to offer a range of sponsored walking events to challenge its supporters. These include The Cotswold Way Challenge, Jurassic Coast Challenge, Race to the Stones (In Avebury) the South West Coast Challenge and the charity's very own Circuit of Bath Walk.
Each challenge offers walkers incredible views across England's countryside and with variable set distances, walkers of all abilities and fitness levels can enjoy the route while helping to support Julian House and the people in its services.
"Last year I took part in the Cotswold Way Challenge. We completed the 50km route, though there were options to do 25km or 100km. It was a fantastic experience, fully supported with rest stops along the way, and we got to see some beautiful landscapes. It was a challenge, but one I'm really proud to have achieved." – Julian House supporter.
The challenges, which run from spring to autumn, end with the charity's own walking event, The Circuit of Bath Walk on Sunday 25th September. Participants can sign up to enjoy a 35km (21.5 mile) route taking in Bath's stunning surrounding countryside.
Senior Community and Events Fundraiser at Julian House, Jessica Gay said: "This range of challenges offers residents a new experience. The chance to see incredible sights, push themselves physically and to achieve something really worthwhile. Whether you take part with a group of friends, with family or even on your own, you leave with lasting memories and feel proud knowing you're helping to change and save the lives of adults and children who are forced into life threatening situations."
