COLLEAGUES and customers at two opticians have joined international efforts to raise funds for the victims of the Turkey-Syria earthquake.

Donations have been rolling into the Specsavers store in Bath and its sister store in Midsomer Norton for a final fundraising total of £254, which included a contribution from the stores themselves.

The money raised will be going directly to the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC), an organisation that helps charities to provide vital medical care, emergency shelter, food and clean water to victims of the earthquake.

'We wanted to show our support for the worldwide fundraising effort to help the people caught up in the awful events of the past few weeks,' says store director at Specsavers Bath and Midsomer Norton, Phil Lodge.

'As with our previous fundraising events, we have found our communities to be very supportive of our efforts and it was no different on this occasion. We'd like to say thank you to everyone who generously donated this time as well.'
