Do you know who finally ended Liverpool's 68 game winning streak ?

A one time hero at Paulton Rovers FC who still keeps close to his roots.

The club were thrilled to see their former player Ashley Barnes put the boot in with his late penalty last night against the reds.

He now plays for Burnley.

Chairman David Bissex told Nub News: " We are very proud of Ashley and what a great performance and result against Liverpool."

David remembers that Ashley was always a footballing star. He told us: " He was really a handful to our opponents when playing for us.

" One game I always recall was away at Chesham United where we won 5: 0 with Ashley a teenager, scoring a hat trick and running the show. It was unfortunate though for Chesham manager, then ex England Watford's Luther Blisset who got the sack the next day."

Soon after that game, Ashley went to Plymouth. But the Paulton chair told us : " He's always kept his roots close though and we were delighted to be invited to his wedding evening. "

His parents still live in Dunkerton.
