Midsomer Norton will have elections this coming May - and for the first time - you will need photographic ID to vote. That will also hold for a general election, if it is called, after October this year.
Valid forms of Voter ID include:
- a passport
- drivers licence
- blue badge
- older person's bus pass
- or a number of other forms of Voter ID
You can use old passports and ID but only if the photo still looks like you.
And for youngsters able to vote for the first, student cards are not accepted. You can apply HERE for a Voter Authority Certificate - the name given to the new piece of documentation demanded by the government, which will last for the next ten years. You will need a digital photo to get it, but it is FREE. You will need a postal address for it to be sent to, or a place you want it picked up.
Voter ID is not required if you vote by post.
In Bath and North East Somerset there are 33 wards, represented by 59 councillors, who are elected for a four-year term with elections on Thursday 4 May 2023.
The last election was on 2 May 2019.
