A top fundraiser who works for the local estate agency has been talking about what inspired him and a group of friends to raise money to help prevent male suicide.

Jordan Bryant and his crew are endeavouring a huge running, walking and cycling challenge to raise money for CALM - the Campaign Against Living Miserably.

Jordan who works for Sam Chivers told Nub News : "It is important to raise awareness for anything you believe in, but in this case it is important to make sure people know that they aren't alone.

"After speaking with a few donors, they were not aware of CALM before this fundraise, but now are. If one person remembers the name or uses the platform, then what we have set out to do has been a success. The fundraising side of it all is equally important. Without funding it means CALM cannot operate and train new employees to take those vital life saving calls.

"It is truly an amazing charity and something we are proud to be supporting."

The group want to run, cycle, or walk a total of 672 miles and are well on their way and have also raised over £1,800 so far.

The friends, who include Frome footballer Martin Lenihan, call themselves the TC group - the Thursday Club - a group of mates who have been meeting up for a chat and get together for nearly six years.

But while they have that support, many men do not, and so they are raising money for CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably) which offers a prevention helpline and campaign for those having suicidal thoughts.

Suicide is sadly the single biggest killer of men under the age of 45 in the UK.

It costs CALM £8 to take a call from someone who needs a listening ear and just over £400 to train someone to take those calls and their prevention rates are impressive.

Taking part in the team are Richard Perrott, Martin Lenihan, Matt Johnson, Matt Le Corre, Ben Winsley, Dan Riddle, Jordan Bryant, Ashley Goodridge and Joe Ford
