The Indian summer continued as Midsomer Norton RFC followed the road much travelled to Gloucester for the third league match of the season, playing Coney Hill.
The first half was comfortable but frustrating as some inaccuracies meant that the score was only 5 v 10 at half time, James Abbott scoring under the posts after an offload from Tom Clark and Taylor kicking the conversion and a penalty.
The second half was much more satisfying as Norton showed glimpses of their early season form.
Tries from Luke Murphy and Joe Knight were followed by a brace from Joe Button. His first was from an excellent five-meter scrum and the second was an audacious chip and chase from his own half.
First team coach Martin Blackmore said he was happy to see all that work on the training pitch with Joe working on his kicking has paid off.
"It's about time Joe kicked the ball more" he said.
The final try was scored in the corner by Ben Palmer but the assist from Murphy was remarkable, as he twisted and turned past numerous defenders before threading an inch perfect pass.
The final score was Coney Hill 12 - Midsomer Norton 46. So, a good win for Norton and they look forward to Gordano at home next week.
