A bruising match as Norton RFC take on Clevedon

After a tough Thursday night Somerset Cup fixture Midsomer Norton travelled to Clevedon for this rearranged Western Counties North league match.
Clevedon started off on the front foot proving strong early on, and it wasn't long until the home side broke the deadlock, a lapse in concentration in the Norton defence was quickly exploited as Clevedon shot down the blindside through their winger to take the lead, 7-0.
Norton seemed to struggle to put multiple phases together, as they did for the majority of the game. Ball retention was an issue proving it very hard work to take the game to their opponents. After exchanges of penalty's from both sides the score at half time read 13-3 in favour of Clevedon.
Scrum half Ben Moon darted around the side of a ruck to score for Norton but this was not enough as Clevedon turned pressure into points once again with the help of their kicker who calmly slotted a further penalty in the second half taking the final score to 16-8. A good victory for Clevedon in tricky soft conditions but a disappointing and frustrating day at the office for Norton, who failed to get out of second gear throughout the match.
The RFU have now suspended all rugby activity until 14th April, subject to continued review.
