The local Paulton sports club Purnells has re-opened after all staff tested negative for coronavirus, and they had a chemical clean.

The Club said they hoped it would now be "business as normal" after the number of positive tests in Somer Valley was revealed to be at least ten.

Last night the representative of Public Health England said that there were currently 26 positive cases across B&NES, and nearly half of those were in Midsomer Norton or Radstock.

The council released a statement warning everyone to be on alert and saying it was essential that the local community took action, saying the situation did not yet require a local lockdown, but to be concerned.

Meantime a Midsomer born local businessman has been helping the community by offering his services - for free - to clean social clubs and gyms with a special chemical misting treatment to ensure they are germ free and safe.

Ryan Church has been hailed a local hero, offering his Riverside cleaning services to companies across the Somer Valley.

When Nub News contacted him he had just been treating Farrington Gurney Golf and Country Club.

Ryan told Nub News: " We are currently fully booked for over a month in advance. I'm really not doing it for publicity or to gain work. I want to lead by example and look after my home town."

Riverside cleaning has been offering its chemical misting treatments for free to pubs, restaurants and gyms over the coming weeks to help local businesses survive what they call "the storm".

Ryan said: " I don't want to gain anything from what I am doing, I'm still running my business as usual by day but donating my evenings and weekends for free to others to help ensure their business stay open and trading. Let's be kind and help eachother."
