As National Apprenticeship Week gets underway, one of the UK's biggest companies is on the hunt for young talent in Midsomer Norton and Radstock.

National Grid Electricity Distribution is looking to recruit people to work out of its depot on Radstock Road, Midsomer Norton.

The company, which provides a safe and reliable electricity supply to 1.2 million customers in the South West, needs new Power Networks Craftspeople to build, maintain and repair its extensive network.

Its apprenticeship programme takes around three years to complete and leads to a City & Guilds Level 2 qualification in electrical engineering. It includes on-the-job training, learning from experienced and qualified engineers.

Following a formal assessment, apprentices become qualified craftspeople working as a Jointer or Fitter.

They'll then be part of a 24/7 service tackling maintenance, faults, asset replacement and new connections – working outdoors with underground cables and substations.

The closing date for applications is 18 February 2024. Find out more here
