Radstock Co-operative Society were delighted to host a visit from the Governor of the Bank of England, Andrew Bailey.

Mr Bailey began his term as the Governor of the Bank of England in March 2020 and is based in London.

He visited the area on Tuesday the 16th of February.

Central to his work are his visits outside of the City of London, where he meets with an array of consumers, charities, and businesses across the country.

At the Annual Public meeting of Radstock Co-operative he said that such visits offer a vital insight into consumers' experiences and provides a key source of information that underpins the Bank of England's consumer protection work.

CEO – Don Morris said: " We were honoured to be chosen as one of the Governor's visits as it was a fantastic opportunity to discuss, our business face to face, along with the current economic climate and our plans for the future." The visit included a trip to the company's dairy farm, Manor Farm, between Radstock and Frome, where Radstock Co-operative Society has been farming for for over 100 years . The site covers an area of over 1,000 acres with recent developments expanding this further and increasing the herd to over 750 cows. Last year there was an installation of a 70-point carousel in the rotary milking parlour, at the time, this was the largest of its type in the country. CEO Don Morris said: " 'Using new technology and automation has massively helped the business to grow. We are extremely proud of the improvements we have made and continue to make to the farm."
