The motoring rescue service Green Flag is predicting six breakdowns a minute as Brits plan Easter travel.

Commercial Director at Green Flag Mark Newberry, said: "As we look forward to the long Easter weekend, it's likely many of us will be getting behind the wheel to visit family and friends for the first time in several months. We're expecting over 6,000 breakdowns to take place over the long weekend, with Good Friday looking to be the worst affected day with six breakdowns to happen every minute.

"Furthermore, with the predicted onset of colder weather towards the end of the Easter weekend, we can potentially expect an additional twenty per cent increase in breakdowns.

"We therefore urge drivers to be careful when getting back in their cars this weekend and prepare for your journeys, particularly if you haven't driven for a while. We want you to stay safe and have successful visits to family and loved ones, and in the event a breakdown does occur, Green Flag will be there to recover you and your car at the roadside."
