Seven year old Ellis Rankin from Radstock is taking on one of the biggest challenges ever .. staying quiet for a total of 26 minutes.

This pupil from St Nicholas' Primary in Radstock finds it difficult not to stay silent at the best of times, but now he MUST not say a word, part of a charity challenge to raise money for Parkinson's UK.

His mum Melissa told Nub News: "The hardest challenge for Ellis is going to be the 26 minute silence - he is determined so will do it but it is going to be so hard!! We won't make it easy for him, we plan to sing his favourite songs to really test him."

Ellis said: "My mummy organises events for Parkinson's UK and I have taken part or volunteered at most of her events. She can't organise these events because of the coronavirus and help people with Parkinson's to get better."

Instead Ellis has embarked on a total of seven challenges over seven days to raise money for the charity.

Apart from the silence he has a pretty Herculean list of tasks including:

- 26 judo throws in a row

- cycling 26 miles over the week

- 26,000 steps over the week

- and producing 26 rainbows to give out to local businesses in the community.

If you would like to encourage Ellis to keep his vow of silence you can donate here: his Just Giving site
