A variety of services and socially distant events are being held by a group of rural churches to celebrate the Easter season.

St John's Church in Peasedown, along with St Julian's in Wellow, St James' in Foxcote and St Julian's Shoscombe – known collectively as the St J's Group – have put together a range of services for the community.

Leader of the St J's Group, Revd Matthew Street, said: "Easter is the most important Christian festival of the year. The events that unfolded in Jerusalem 2,000 years ago have shaped our faith. Jesus' death and resurrection tell us a huge story about the sacrifice that one man made for the rest of humanity and the love God has for us all.

"Come and find out more about the Easter story at one of our Covid-safe socially distant services, whether it's Holy Communion on Maundy Thursday, meditation on Good Friday, or our Easter Sunday morning worship."

The four churches will be hosting:

Maundy Thursday – 1st April

Holy Communion, 7pm, St John's Church Peasedown

Good Friday – 2nd April

Good Friday Service, 10am, St John's Church Peasedown

Meditation on the Cross, 3pm, St Julian's Church, Wellow

Easter Day – 4th April

Easter Day Holy Communion, 10am, St Julian's Church, Wellow

Easter Day Holy Communion, 10.30am, St John's Church, Peasedown

Easter Day Holy Communion, 11.15am, St James' Church, Foxcote

All events and services are being held in line with government guidelines. Hand sanitiser will be available on entry at each service and masks must be worn inside the buildings.

Attendance at any of the Peasedown St John services must be booked in advance online at www.stjsgroup.church.
