The clear up update, how the Midsomer Norton river is looking today

By Susie Watkins 27th Jan 2020

A busy, clear morning for workers on the River Somer, pushing on with the £9000 renovation, previously agreed by the council. The best time for it to be done is January to February, so every day possible is needed to get it finished.

Luckily the hefty clean up is already starting to take shape, showcasing the true beauty of the river.

Today (27th January) there was sadly no sign of the crayfish spotted by contractors last week, who shocked locals and sparked debates about its species and origins. The River Somer is reportedly host to a diverse range of aquatic life, with even an eel making an appearance in the past, a hopeful sign.

Who knows just how many different unusual animals are hiding underneath the surface ?

However If you do wish to meet the little crayfish specifically you better bring a torch, as they are nocturnal and most likely will spend the day hiding in the rocks.
