Reading not ringing, in and around Radstock
A well connected line of revamped telephone boxes, now home to books, have appeared in and around the Radstock area- all using a book swap system, which allows for not only the books to have a new lease of life, but also makes good use of some of the 67,000 phone boxes in the UK now left unused.
One particularly keen user is Lucy Milsom who said: " I can always find a new book to read and it's great to have somewhere to take the books that I've already read."
As an added bonus the one that Lucy uses, which is in Carlingcott, also has a nearby table where people leave surplus homegrown fruit and veg, to be picked up as needed.
These tiny telephone libraries can be found all over, with the primary ones; Chilcompton phone box, one in Clutton, the Tunney phone box, another in Corston and in Timsbury, and also in Stratton on Fosse.
Similar book swap systems are also held in Radstock Museum, with a 50p donation to the museum, and Farmborough's community shop. Whether you simply wish to find a good book or give up a few of your own, they are easy to access, great for the environment and well-loved.
If you know of other boxes being used around Bath & North East Somerset then please let Nub News know.
