Community rally around as delivery driver - described as the best ever - has his van stolen

By Susie Watkins 3rd Jun 2020

The police have appealed for anyone who can help with the theft of a van used by a popular delivery driver living and working around Radstock.

Following a mass social media appeal the van was later found -but police are now hunting for those responsible for stealing the vehicle. Ironically it was taken only a few hundred metres from the main police station in Radstock.

The police have now appealed for help in catching those responsible after finding the van abandoned in Bristol less than two hours after it was taken. No details have yet been released into what was stolen from the van which also contained the driver's personal belongings.

The driver has been described as the best delivery man ever ...and is reported to have worked hugely hard throughout the pandemic - often putting in 12 hour days seven days a week.

The police statement is:

"Police were called at 3.15pm on Wednesday 3 June by a man reporting that his van had just been stolen while he made a delivery in Wells Road, Radstock.

The white Citroen Berlingo was later sighted in Whitchurch after a social media appeal by the victim and officers located it at 5.40pm on Wednesday.

Enquiries continue and if you have any information about those responsible for the theft get in touch through www.avonandsomerset.police.uk/contact or call 101 quoting reference 5220120873.

Alternatively ring the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. They never ask your name or trace your call. "
