The Covid-19 vaccination bus will be visiting local areas of Bath and North East Somerset next week, offering jabs to those people who have found it difficult to get vaccinated.

The mobile clinic will be offering a drop-in service to people in Midsomer Norton on Thursday.

The bus is particularly aimed at helping those people who are less sure about the vaccine, have found it difficult to get to an alternative vaccination site or who don't currently have a first or second dose appointment booked elsewhere.

Staffed by clinicians experienced in helping those people who have questions about the vaccine or who may have concerns or fears, people can take time to have their vaccine, in a quiet, friendly environment.

Director of Public Health at Bath and North East Somerset Council, Becky Reynolds, said: "There are still lots of people who, for whatever reason, have yet to receive their first vaccination. Many of these people have perhaps found it difficult to travel to larger vaccination centres. Or perhaps they struggle to use IT to book an appointment. Many still have questions about the vaccines or particular concerns and needs. The vaccine bus aims to help these people by visiting their neighbourhood and answering their questions. If you haven't received your first dose – or your second dose 8-12 weeks after your first – I urge you to get jabbed as this is the best way to help us reduce severe illness, transmission, and ease lockdown."

The bus will be at the following locations next week between 10am and 6.30pm, and will return to the same locations five weeks later to give second doses:

: Monday 28 June: Radco car park (next to the Post Office), 3 Wells Road, Radstock, BA3 3RQ

: Tuesday 29 June: Stanton Court Nursing Home (car park), Stanton Drew, Near Chew Magna, Bristol, BS39 4ER

: Wednesday 30 June: Bath City Football Club, 105 High St, Twerton, Bath, BA2 1DB

: Thursday 1 July: Somer Centre, Gullock Tyning, Midsomer Norton, Radstock BA3 2UH

The clinic is open to anyone:

- aged 40 years and above who hasn't got an appointment for their first or second - dose yet with the second doses 8-12 weeks after the first (it is strictly limited to this age group as it will be the AstraZeneca vaccine)

- clinically vulnerable (over 18 years only)

- eligible as above, but would like to talk to a medical professional about the vaccine before you decide whether to have it

Due to the availability of vaccines the Monday and Tuesday clinics are strictly open to people aged 40 and above, or clinically vulnerable and we cannot vaccinate pregnant women. On Wednesday and Thursday, the bus will be able to offer jabs to all adults over 18 years old.

Councillor Dine Romero, Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, Communities and Culture, said: "It's great news that the vaccine bus will be returning to Bath and North East Somerset next week. We know there are many people out there worried about having the vaccine or struggling to get to a clinic. The mobile clinic team will provide a safe and accessible environment that will allow you to get the vaccine when you're ready."
