A popular local nursery has said farewell to a hugely popular and kind member of staff, a lady who lent her name to the business.
Teddy Bear Nursery, formally known as Jenny's in Westfield said a fond farewell to Jenny Huyton who is after nearly 43 years of looking after the little ones, putting her nursery hat on the peg and retiring.
Jenny, who began work there in 1980, was synonymous with the nursery, known as St Peter's Playgroup previously which is in the Mardons Building, on Nightingale Way,
The nursery posted : " Thank you to everyone who came to see her and give her such a fantastic send off and who donated to her collection. She has seen many changes from Westfield playgroup to St Peters Playgroup and finally as Teddy Bear Nursery. She has nurtured, loved and cared for hundreds of children over the years and her legacy lives on in all the children she has loved. "
In the last Ofsted report for the nursery there was special praise for the staff, pointing to their kindness and how they were good role models, helping children to " understand, take turns, share, and be kind and respectful to others."
