A former Radstock Football Club player scored his first professional goal for his new side in Cyprus - perhaps a good omen for the season which kicks off pre season this week?

The Midsomer Norton midfielder Elliott Dugan had been playing for Radstock pre coronavirus.

He had previously played as a schoolboy at Bristol Rovers, West Bromwich Albion and Southampton.

He told Nub News : " I was playing before the virus had started and loved my time there. I was learning under great members of staff and off the great players there. It was a massive help my time there and helped me kick on and helping me find my next step. I'm great full for everything they helped me with."

Elliott signed his first professional contract with APEA Akortiri in July: thanking his coaches, family and friends. At the time on social media he said : " The hard work starts now."

Elliott's family live in Westfield where they moved to ten years ago and he went to Beechen Cliff school.

This last weekend he scored his first goal for Cyprus side, APEA Akortiri.

Meantime the team up at Southfields are about to return to playing, with a full timetable of pre season matches. Their first match this Tuesday (August 4) away to Malmesbury.
