The wonderful statues in the heart of Radstock have been found following a huge local community effort.

The iron sculptures were reported missing early Sunday (February 28) with the community rallying around to share the messages that they needed to be found.

To deter anyone who might have thought about stealing them for scrap, the welder who created them, Martin Feeney messaged out a warning that they were not worth enough to melt down.

Martin, who is a Branch Chairman at Royal British Legion, created them to pay tribute to the NHS and other key workers for their work during the coronavirus pandemic.

The statues were found by B&NEs highways and will be returned to their spot on the roundabout across from the relocated Co-op store in Radstock.

It seems to have been a bit of a misunderstanding, and not a crime, with Martin, along with all those who see the statues every day, just pleased that the statues will come back.
