Glastonbury Festival has set a new benchmark by donating a staggering £3.7 million to various charities in 2023.

The festival has significantly impacted numerous causes and communities in the UK and internationally through its charitable initiatives.

Emily Eavis, the festival's co-organiser, expressed her gratitude and excitement in an Instagram post, saying, "It's wonderful for us to be able to let you know that we have donated a record amount of over £3.7m to charitable causes and campaigns this year, helping those facing challenges in the UK and across the world. It is thanks to your support for the festival that this has been possible".

"Thank you to every one of you who comes and allows us to make a bit of a difference to those that need it right now."

The festival's fundraising success included substantial contributions to the Oxfam Crowdfunder DEC Appeal, which alone gathered over £1 million for the Syria-Turkey Earthquake response. Additionally, an online auction organised by the festival raised £116,000 for the Trussell Trust.

Glastonbury's philanthropic efforts have been wide-reaching, supporting joint charity partners such as Oxfam, Water Aid, and Greenpeace, and assisting organisations addressing crises both locally and globally.

Key beneficiaries include the British Red Cross's Israel and Occupied Palestinian Territory Appeal and War Child, focusing on medical and welfare support in regions such as the Middle East, Syria, Afghanistan, and Ukraine.

National charities like Centre Point UK, aiding young people facing homelessness, also received support. Other UK-based charities, including Fareshare, Foodcycle, and Beauty Banks, received funds to assist impoverished communities. The festival's charitable reach extended to organisations aiding refugees and asylum seekers, like Safe Passage and the UK Refugee Council.

Locally, the festival's contributions have directly impacted primary school enrichment projects and community food banks in Pilton and neighbouring areas.

Contributions have also been made to the new Breast Cancer Unit at Yeovil Hospital Charity and the Somerset NHS Charity.

In total, over 200 charities have benefited from the festival's generosity, which continues to provide essential services and make a significant difference in numerous lives.
