Bath Record Office is appealing to the public to help record Royal Jubilee celebrations in Bath and North East Somerset from 1887 to the present day.

Councillor Kevin Guy, Leader of Bath & North East Somerset Council, said: "As we look forward to the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations, it will be fascinating to find out how past Jubilees were celebrated across our area. The crowdsourced information, images and objects will be safely kept by the Record Office and will be available for future generations to explore."

Residents are being asked to send in copies or originals of photos, films, leaflets or objects (like mugs or coins) recording past Royal Jubilee celebrations and the Queen's Platinum Jubilee. You can upload documents and images online or send items to Bath Record Office, Guildhall, High Street, Bath BA1 5AW.

These public contributions will be added to the Bath Record Office archives and will be available for present and future members of the public, students and historians to look at. The project forms part of the Record Office's wider role in documenting the history of Bath and North East Somerset and making it available to everyone to see and study free of charge. 

The Record Office also wants to map as many places as possible where Jubilees have been commemorated across Bath and North East Somerset – from streets named after Jubilees to commemorative benches.

Do you live on Jubilee Way? Do you walk your dog in Jubilee Woods? Is there a Jubilee drinking fountain, bench, gate or clock tower in your town or village? Local communities often collected money to commemorate Royal Jubilees in a unique way.

You can use the online submission form to submit your suggestion and, if possible, provide a photograph of the item and its inscription.

An online map will be created on the Bath Record Office website, showing where commemorative items have been installed, built or named for a Royal Jubilee. This will be available to view in the coming weeks, along with an image gallery sharing highlights of the crowdsourcing campaign.
