Somer Valley Farms, meanwhile, exist to re-connect local people with their food and drink.

Launched in 2022, they champion high animal welfare, sustainability, and provenance by selling meat and more sourced from their own farm or other local suppliers in their Butcher's shop at Knoll Farm, Peasedown St John.

A Culinary Triumph for Somer Valley Butchers: 11 awards won

Somer Valley Butchers have already been making waves in the industry, with previous accolades including Red Poll Society awards for their herd and two Rural Oscar nominations.

They continued their winning streak with an astounding six Gold and five Silver Taste of the West wins for their range of sausages, bacon, black pudding and charcuterie.

This accomplishment is a testament to the expertise that the butchers bring to their craft, plus their dedication to local suppliers.

"Winning 13 awards at the Taste of the West is an incredible honour for us. It speaks volumes about the hard work and passion that our team at Somer Valley Farms puts into crafting exceptional products.

"We are proud to contribute to the rich tapestry of South West England's culinary heritage," said Graham Heselton, Manager at Somer Valley Farms.

Somer Valley Brewing: crafting success with two awards

Somer Valley Brewing, the latest Somer Valley Farms offering, brews craft beer locally using barley grown at Knoll Farm.

Impressively, in their first year of operation, Somer Valley Brewing has soared to success, securing the highest honour, Gold, for their Session Pale Ale "Rolling Hills," while their Helles Lager "Brook" received a commendation.

The awards highlight the exceptional quality and craftsmanship that Somer Valley Brewing brings to the craft beer scene.

Of the wins, Head Brewer Chester Ellis said: "Our recent awards from The Taste of the West are the perfect way to start the year. We can't wait to bring our customers more beers using our home-grown barley in 2024. To say we're pretty chuffed would be an understatement!"
